Dagaz rune meaning
Dagaz is the twenty-third rune of the Elder Futhark and stands for the sound d. Its name means day. The Anglo-Saxon rune poem calls it the glorious light of the Creator, a source of hope and happiness for rich and poor alike.
Its shape, two triangles touching at their points, is read as the balance point between night and day. Dagaz is the turning of one thing into its opposite: the instant everything becomes clear.
Dagaz upright
Dagaz announces an awakening: a situation becoming clear, a hard chapter ending or an idea that changes everything. After the dark comes the light.
It's a good time to start over with fresh eyes. Because its shape doesn't change upside down, Dagaz always reads as a rune of hope. Let go of the version of you that was stuck in the dark; a new day calls for a new approach.
Dagaz reversed
Dagaz has no reversed position: it looks the same right side up and upside down, so its message always reads the same way. It's one of the nine runes that can't be reversed, along with Gebo, Hagalaz, Naudhiz, Isa, Jera, Eihwaz, Sowilo and Ingwaz.
In love
In love, Dagaz speaks of a new chapter: a relationship transforming for the better, a reconciliation or love showing up when you'd stopped expecting it.
It can also mean you finally see clearly what you feel, or what the other person feels.
Work and money
At work, Dagaz announces breakthroughs and solutions: a problem resolved, a brilliant idea or a positive change of direction.
It's a good time to start something new and leave behind what isn't working.
Dagaz’s advice: Open your eyes to the new day: what looked dark yesterday may look different in today's light.
