Berkano rune meaning
Berkano is the eighteenth rune of the Elder Futhark and stands for the sound b. The birch grows quickly and springs back to life in spring; the Anglo-Saxon rune poem describes it as a tree that bears no fruit, yet fills out with lovely branches and leaves.
Its shape, with two points like breasts or like an angular B, has been linked to the mother, fertility and care. Berkano is the rune of what is born and grows under protection.
Berkano upright
Berkano upright announces a new beginning: a project being born, a stretch of personal growth or, in some cases, a pregnancy or family news. Whatever starts now has good roots.
The rune asks for patience and care: what's newly born needs attention to grow. It's also a good time to take care of yourself. A warm, supportive environment will help you bloom.
Berkano reversed
Berkano reversed points to stalled growth: a project that won't get off the ground, family problems, or the feeling that you're not getting the care you need. It can also signal overprotection that smothers.
The rune asks you to look at your roots: what nourishes you, and what holds you back.
In love
In love, Berkano speaks of a relationship that's growing, starting a family or a bond built on mutual care. It's very favorable for couples ready to take the next step.
Reversed, it warns of family tension or an imbalance between what you give and what you receive.
Work and money
At work, Berkano favors new projects, training and teams that look out for each other. What you plant now will grow.
Reversed, it advises not to force the pace: some projects need more time to get going.
Berkano’s advice: Tend what's just being born: with patience and care, even the smallest twig becomes a tree.
