Uruz rune meaning
Uruz is the second rune of the Elder Futhark and stands for the sound u. The aurochs was an enormous animal that was hard to hunt; the rune poems describe it as fierce, brave and armed with great horns. Facing one was a test of courage, which is why the rune is tied to physical strength, health and energy in its purest form.
Uruz isn't calculated strength, it's instinctive: the kind that keeps you going when you're tired, helps you recover from illness or makes you stand up for what's yours.
Uruz upright
Uruz upright brings energy and vitality. If you've been sick or worn out, it signals recovery. If you're facing a challenge, it says you have the strength to get through it.
It's a good time to start something that takes effort, look after your body and trust your gut. Uruz can also announce a big change that will leave you stronger.
Uruz reversed
Uruz reversed speaks of low energy: fatigue, a weakened immune system or the feeling that you can't keep up. It may be a sign to rest and take care of your health before pushing any harder.
It can also point to strength used badly: impulsiveness, harshness or letting anger take over. The rune asks you to channel your energy instead of burning it on battles that don't matter.
In love
In love, Uruz speaks of passion, physical attraction and a relationship with a lot of energy. It can signal an intense new connection or a revival in an existing one.
Reversed, it warns of clashing personalities, pride-driven fights or a relationship that drains you.
Work and money
At work, Uruz gives you the drive to take on new challenges, stand up for your ideas and work hard. It favors projects that demand stamina and steady effort.
Reversed, it advises not to take on more than you can carry: burnout will cost you opportunities.
Uruz’s advice: Trust your strength, but aim it: energy that's channeled goes further than energy that's wasted.
